The ESCE Economic and Social Research Center is a research, training, and policy-formulation institute based in Eisenstadt, Austria and Cologne, Germany. At ESCE, our mission is to generate novel insights with regard to a wide range of economic and social phenomena, and to share these insights with colleagues, students, policy-makers, public officials, and business leaders. This dissemination is implemented by means of academic publications, curriculum development, international training programs, "train the trainers" schemes, conferences, workshops, and seminars.

ESCE undertakes advanced analytical research. It draws upon, and adds to its portfolio of state-of-the-art qualitative and quantitative research methods, data hosting and clearing infrastructure, and multi-method surveying techniques.

The Center's research focuses on the socio-economic attributes and the development of regions; public administration reform; the economics of network industries; development economics and its linkages with human capital formation; intergenerational transfers and exchanges; and the evolution and formation of preferences.

In the context of the continuously evolving European Research Area, ESCE is intensifying its efforts to establish cross-border research partnerships. In this vein, ESCE is exploring collaborative links with counterparts in several European countries. The Center is also actively collaborating with reseachers in China and in the United States.
