Given a government spending rate of more than 50 percent, the financial flows of the public sector influence the Austrian economy significantly. Economica analyzes the management and the economic effects of the public as well as parafiscal households at all regional levels.

Economica’s research agenda ranges from the analysis of the federal budget in an intertemporal and international way, through benchmarking of municipal finance to the impact of taxes and levies. As a result ex-ante examinations of fiscal reforms and ex-post evaluations of existing fiscal policy regulations are carried out. A further research strand deals with the economic activities of the state and the valuation of companies in the (partial) property of the public sector. Conversely, Economica also documents the fiscal tax and duty payments of private companies within the framework of the economic footprint.

The competence of the Economica team in this field is reflected in a research portfolio that is appreciated by Austrian authorities (on federal, state and municipalities level) as well as numerous other clients from the state and civil society.
